Hertha BSC has announced the appointment of a new head coach for the upcoming season, following their relegation last season.

The club's president, Michael Fahl, said that he was "delighted" to have appointed former German international coach Jürgen Klinsmann as his successor.

Klinsmann will take over from current head coach Frank Schmid, who is leaving the club after this season.

"The team is in good hands with Jürgen," Fahl added. "He has a wealth of experience at all levels and we look forward to working with him."

Klinsmann is known for his success at the highest level, having managed teams such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

"I am very excited to join Hertha BSC," he said. "I believe in our ability to rise above the challenges that come our way and I'm looking forward to building on what we've achieved in the past."

Klinsmann has previously worked at Real Madrid and has also managed clubs in Germany and England.

"It's great to be back in Europe," he said. "My previous experiences at Real Madrid were in the Champions League and I know how important it is to compete at a high level every day."

Despite the club's recent struggles, Klinsmann remains optimistic about the future of the team and is confident in his abilities to lead them to avoid relegation.

"We have a strong squad and a talented group of players," he said. "We're determined to work hard and stay focused until the end of the season."
